About me

My name is Benjamin, I am counsellor and psychotherapist working from an integrative, holistic framework.  My hope is that I can assist you to find resolution in whatever has brought you here today.

My path in this field started as a young man with my own lived experience of depression.  I sought help in my struggles and through a lot of personal effort doing therapy, group work and spiritual practices I was able to find integration and peace.  This unexpectedly led me into a career in counselling which started more than 10 years ago, initially assisting people to integrate their lived experiences of mental illness.  I’ve since worked in a variety of settings – as a support worker to people experiencing suicidal ideation, a training coordinator, a clinical supervisor and in my own private practice.  As a therapist my clients tend to be professionals and couples.  As a trainer I’ve facilitated learning across many different sectors including government, business, not for profit, community services and education.

Currently I work part time as a student counsellor in a TAFE and see some clients in private practice.  I am also a lecturer at a major Australian university, delivering counselling skills and ethics, and providing clinical supervision to students on placement.

My Qualifications Include: Master of Counselling (UTAS link here), Graduate Diploma of Counselling, Bachelor of Arts – Philosophy (LaTrobe University), Certificate IV Training and Education, Certificate in Professional Supervision, Dual Diploma in Transpersonal Counselling and Art Therapy (Phoenix Institute of Victoria) and a Diploma of Alchemy and Hermetic Science (International Alchemy Guild).  This coupled with my experience enables me to be a member of the Australian Counselling Association, the largest peak body for professional counsellors in Australia.

I also pursue other interests professionally and personally.  I am the Director of the Temple of Mercury and also serve on the Board of Directors for the International Alchemy Guild as Director of Education.  I also produce and perform ambient electronic music.
