Holistic Counselling
What is Holistic Counselling?
Holistic or Transpersonal Counselling (latin: trans persona – literally meaning ‘beyond the mask) is a form of therapy which connects us to ourselves and helps us move beyond our limitations and into living our potential. It is a model that looks at a problem from all aspects of a person: mind, body, emotions, meaning, in short – everything. Holistic counselling is not part of any institution or religion – rather it uses techniques from many sources to help facilitate awareness and creativity. It values authenticity to the best that we can be.
Holistic counselling is also experiential – it is not like many other forms of ‘talk therapy’ that just revolve around discussing issues. Through doing processes that engage all of a person someone can access new potential through experiencing a new awareness of themselves. In doing so it becomes possible to change whatever is holding a person back in life.
The therapeutic process is led by whatever arises in the moment- subject to your needs and desires. Your own inner wisdom is accessed. Thus, you own the change, ultimately resulting in freedom and independence in therapy. What you share and would like to explore in the session is entirely up to you!
